REFRIGERATOR - APPLICATION FOR IMPORTATION

The Department of Energy (DoE) wishes to inform the general public that in accordance with Section 2 of the Trade Standards (Household Electric Refrigerating Appliances) Order 2007, all refrigerating appliances imported into Fiji must comply with the Fiji/Australia/New Zealand Standards FS/AS/NZS 4474.1 and FS/AS/NZS 4474.2 and consequently be affixed with appropriate labels as outlined below. It is therefore now mandatory for all importers to register their imports and seek approval from Department of Energy prior to importing any household freezer and refrigerator into Fiji.  Hence, only compliant appliances will be approved for import. The regulator (DoE) will detain any non compliant appliance and the importer will be required to send the non compliant appliance back to the country of origin or any other country of their choice at his/her own cost.

Application Requirements :

A letter of application has to be lodged with Department of Energy (DoE) for importation of every household electric freezers and refrigerators into the country with the following mandatory details:

Whereby, DoE will scrutinize and verify the application and approval shall only be granted if there are no deficiencies within the applied documents.  All applications will require process duration of ten (10) working days.

Checklist for ODS Applications Application for Permit to Import Controlled substances.

Kindly note any equipment which uses refrigerants /gas should apply for import permit or consent letter from Department of Environment before the consignment is release.

 Please fill form 5,10 and attach the relevant documents that can assist in our assessment

•  Bill of lading / Invoice / Supplier/Manufacturer details Etc

Please describe what gas is charged on the equipment and how many grams on part c of import application form 10.
